Free Japanese Lessons

This website only provides ten Japanese lessons, but it is still a good choice if you want to learn the basics of the Japanese Language. It teaches you Japanese alphabet (including Hiragana and Katakana) as well as Kanji, vocabulary, grammar, sentences structure and some useful phrases.

    I find it quite hard to handle these Japanese short lessons because I do not really understand the grammar and pronounciation and sentence structure and phontec structure behind it. How do other people manage?

    It’s difficult to learn any new language. German was very hard for me, but because I am living now in Switzerland, I have to learn it. I am happy to say that I can communicate with others around me…after spending 1 year and a lot of money. Japanese is a very lovely language. I was in Japan for 18 months, but before that, I was learning basic Japanese in the first 2 years of my university. It takes time to learn every language, but if you are really interested in it, you can do it. Start from learning to pronounce the alphabets, and then move to the words, and then grammar. As a language teacher, I would like to recommend you to keep hearing words until you are used to the sounds and then connect them to the real things. Don’t give up. Learning languages is fun.

    You can learn the basic japanese alphabet (Hiragana) at that site. There are flashcards, audio, and quizzes to help you along the way. If you just want to learn the basic grammar of the japanese language, try the grammar section. It has a “basic” section with well-written articles such as sentence structure, numbers, and personal pronouns.
